Lessons in Survival – from a 35-year career as a journalist, author, and publisher

In this webinar, Michael will share some of the challenges he faced in his 35-year career as:

a newspaper reporter, freelance writer, prominent magazine editor, best-selling non-fiction writer, novelist, and now, as a book publisher -- and the ways he met and overcame them.

“I made six figures as a freelance writer for nearly twenty years in a row,” said Bowker. “I’ll share how I did that. But, most of all, I’ll share why I chose to be a writer and why it’s been so much fun.”

Bowker will discuss some of the more critical technical aspects of writing. And, what it was like writing on topics ranging from interviewing dozens of Hollywood celebrities and leading politicians, including the president of the United States, to exposing the most lethal environmental disaster in history and covering the 40-year chase after one of California’s most prolific serial killers He will share what it’s like to have a gun barrel pressed to your forehead because of what you wrote, and on the flip side, the pure joy you can feel almost every day as a reporter and author.
